EMBRACING THE SEPTEMBER SHIFT: REST, REFLECT, RESET


As the leaves change colour and summer plans begin to fade, September is a gentle reminder from nature to pause and embrace the transition into autumn. Just as nature prepares for winter, September offers us an opportunity to rest, reflect and reset. For me, September feels like a new beginning, more so than the traditional New Year's Day in January. I think it’s because of the ‘back-to-school’ energy and the seasons change! It’s a chance to shed old habits and refocus energy. A great way to do this is through resting, reflecting & resetting. If you feel the same I encourage you to take some time out to journal and explore some questions I’ve outlined below.


REST

September serves as a pause button in a world that often glorifies constant hustle and productivity. It's a time to recharge your physical, mental, and emotional batteries. Consider these questions:


  1. What does true rest mean to you?

  2. How can you create more space for rest in your daily or weekly routine?

  3. Are there activities or commitments that no longer serve your well-being, which you can let go of to prioritise rest?


REFLECT

Review the year so far, acknowledging you growth and learning from you experiences. This introspection is essential for personal development. Ask yourself:

  1. What accomplishments and challenges have defined your year so far?

  2. What have you learned about yourself, your values, and your desires?


RESET

September's transitional energy is an ideal backdrop for resetting your intentions and priorities. Just as trees shed their old leaves, we can shed habits, beliefs, and mindsets that no longer serve us. Reflect on:

  1. What aspects of your life would benefit from a reset?

  2. What new habits or practices could support your well-being?

  3. How can you create space for these new habits every day?
